My Beliefs

Life is an accumulation of highs and lows and of moments that expand and slip away.  Experiences create memories, and a life is made.  Each moment is in relationship to the next moment, sometimes with purpose and clarity and sometimes with uncertainty.  How we live the moments in our lives can make all the difference in the world.  I believe therapy is a space where we can repair broken moments, celebrate joyful ones, and be present with the moments we can’t understand.  Therapy embraces all sides of a challenge and turns it on its head so we can see it from a different perspective.  From that new perspective, a fresh moment can be created and a new narrative can come forward.

We all have families.  Family and culture are always influencing lives even when we are unaware of this influence or distance ourselves from it.  In therapy we can look at our family relationships and our cultural influences in the present moment, draw connections to the past, and move towards a future that strives to connect to family and culture.  Therapy can help repair the ruptures in relationships that stand in the way of living fully and authentically.  By working on integrating the broken aspects of ourselves and our relationships we emerge a more whole self and can bring that best self to our relationships in a more effective way.  This work can be done individually or with others.  There is more than one path to define oneself and make a meaningful life.
